• Drafting & Design follows the Architecture & Construction Career Cluster. In this video you will see all the programs highlighted under this category.

Courses in the drafting program are designed to enable students to pursue a successful career in an architectural, engineering, or industrial field. Students learn technical, mechanical drafting, and computer-aided drafting.

One of the great advantages of working in the Drafting and Design field is the satisfaction of seeing something transform from an idea on paper into a completed object or a building. If you are interested in a career in drafting, architecture, or engineering, EPCOT's Drafting and Design Technology program will put you on the path to success.

Our Drafting and Design Technology program equips students with a foundation of knowledge that can be applied to many career fields. Upon completion, you will be prepared to begin an entry-level job in the industry, continue your drafting education at a community college, or pursue a bachelor's degree in engineering, building science, or architecture at a university. Students who complete the program courses have the opportunity to obtain software certification in Solidworks Associate; Solidedge Certified Associate; Autodesk-AutoCAD Certified User. Students will also have the opportunity to earn OSHA 10 and Snap-on Precision Measurement certifications.

Armed with the same cutting edge tools and technology you would find in almost any architectural or engineering firm, we have one of the most well-equipped labs in the state. Placing an emphasis on mechanical, architectural, and 3-D design, our program teaches.

    • Traditional board drafting techniques
    • Visualization
    • Sketching
    • Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD)
    • 3-D Solid Modeling
    • Automated Manufacturing Concepts

Students will learn to draft on paper and to utilize computer technology to create electronic drawings using the latest software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Solidworks, Inventor, and Solid Edge. Our drafting lab is equipped with a 3-D printer that works in conjunction with our software to produce 3-D scaled models of mechanical parts and architectural designs.

Through articulation, students can also earn college credit for the courses and training they receive at EPCOT into continuing education at Northeast Alabama Community College as well as dual enrollment courses.
